About Us

Zero G Elite Pole Vault Club is located in Waco, Texas. Our top of line pole vaulting facilities consist of a 220ft indoor/outdoor building with two pole vault pits and two runways. A high bar, rings, rope vaulting and spring inversions are also in use.

From vision to reality! Building a program that builds Champions!

Jeff Bray and Brandon Richards began thinking about the idea of creating an elite vault club beginning in the fall of 2012. The idea was to build a club that everyone could afford and to revive the vault in Central Texas. In December of 2012 that dream became a reality. Brandon's father Bob Richards, two time Olympic Gold Medalist in the pole vault, moved to Waco and the vision became a reality. Mr. Richards purchased a 300 acre ranch on the Brazos River in Waco, today known as the Crossbar Ranch. Beginning in December of 2012, Jeff and Brandon began building the Zero G Elite Pole Vault Club. On the property is a 25,000 sq. ft. building housing two pole vault pits and a host of gymnastics equipment that can be used in vault training.

State Results in the past season were as follows:

District-18 Athletes advanced to the area meet.
Area-16 Athletes advanced to the regional meet.
Regionals-7 athletes advanced to the state meet
State-Two state champions, two state runners up, and a third place finisher.
4 track and field scholarships out of 7 seniors.

Since opening the doors in 2013, Zero G produced the youth national record, 5 state champions, 2 state runners up, a 3 3rd place finishes, and 17 state qualifiers. Zero G also had a USATF Junior National Champion 18U and a USATF Junior National Champion 14u and the National Runner up in the 16u age group, coupled with two other medalists. Zero G also produced Numerous state champions and medalists in the TAAF summer track state meet. Zero G has 7 alumni are now enrolled in college and competing in their track and field program.

It is no fluke that the club has had immediate success. The coaching staff for Zero G is unmatched and quite astonishing.

Jeff Bray (Personal Best--18'6") remains the current Atlantic Coast Conference record holder, a record which has stood for almost 22 years and is a member of the Florida State Athletic Hall of Fame.

Brandon Richards (Personal Best--18'4") held the H.S. World record for an astonishing 14 years(18'2"--1984-1998). Brandon's father, Bob Richards(Personal Best of 15'3" during the straight pole era) is a two time Olympic Gold medalist in 1952 and 1956.

Jacob Davis(Personal Best--19'4") actively coaching in the club. Jacob is the current Big 12 and Collegiate National Record holder in the vault. Jacob is a 3 time NCAA National Champion and arguably one of the best collegiate vaulters in US history

The goal of Zero G is simple. We want to give serious kids a place where they can come to train and be involved in an elite environment designed to help them to achieve their best. We charge a minimal fee, mainly to cover electricity and maintenance of the club. Come by sometime and see for yourself. We think you will find a place that any vaulter would love to be.
